Specialist insurers such as Fish Insurance cover wheelchair accessible vehicles (call 0333 331 3992). If you should encounter any difficulty with insurance you can contact BIBA (British Insurance Brokers’ Association) Will my wheelchair or mobility scooter fit in this? We’ll check it with you. Bring your wheelchair or scooter when you visit, or send us the measurements (seated height, width, length and weight). We’d rather you were sure before you buy, and we can show you how the securing system works too. Can you arrange finance? Yes, we act as a credit broker, not a lender, and work with a panel of lenders including Motion Finance, CarFinance 247 and First Response. Finance is subject to status and we may receive commission. Our FCA firm reference number is 688533. You’re also welcome to source your own finance from other brokers or lenders, such as Zuto or Close Brothers. If you would like to apply click here Do you accept part exchange? Yes, for wheelchair adapted vehicles and standard cars. To arrange a valuation, complete our part exchange form, tick the part exchange box and add your vehicle details. We’ll reply within one working day. Are you part of the Motability Scheme? No, we’re an independent dealer and not part of the Motability Scheme but many of our wheelchair accessible vehicles were previously on the scheme. You can buy a vehicle outright or on finance. Finance is subject to status, and some lenders will consider applicants whose income includes benefits. If you’d like to talk it through, we’re happy to help. Do you check the wheelchair securing system on this vehicle? Yes. The wheelchair securing system is part of our pre-sale safety checks, and the MOT covers wheelchair restraints and seat belts too. We check that the wheelchair belts (electric and manual) work correctly and retract fully, and that the 3-point passenger seatbelt operates, locks and retracts properly. If the vehicle has a winch, we check that the strap, karabiners and remote all work as they should and that the winch pulls a wheelchair safely. My wheelchair isn’t crash tested. Can I still travel in it in a vehicle? We don’t recommend it. Crash-tested wheelchairs have dedicated securing points for the tie-down system to attach to, and have been tested to withstand the forces of a collision. Wheelchairs that haven’t been tested may not have secure fixing points, and the wheelchair could seriously fail in a crash. If your wheelchair isn’t crash tested, the safest option is usually to transfer to a vehicle seat and use the seatbelt, with the wheelchair stowed securely. To check yours, look for the crash-test label or the securing point markings, or ask the wheelchair manufacturer. We’re happy to look at your wheelchair with you when you visit.
